Jason had blisters on his feet. Brendon and Jason were helping each other to run 100 miles. They had to go to the toilet in the bush. They finished the 100-mile race and they were happy and crying. They had to eat potato chips and tortillas and lollies. Their blood sugar was probably low because of the running.
The writer's purpose was to show everybody else how much is 100 miles. It’s quite hard to run 100 miles. You have to train a lot by running.
I learned that you eat certain food if you’re doing those runs. They became good friends because they didn’t know each other so they found each other in a bar and had a couple of drinks. Jason became a fighter in high school, but he wasn’t very good at it. Their friendship was important to help each other. Brendan was doing the run because Jason was doing it. If you stay up all night and try to run, you get tired.
Another message is about friendship. Brendon and Jason showed us that friendship gets you places. They could not do the 100 miles alone, they had to help each other.
The movie made me feel jealous because I’d never seen a running trophy before and I couldn’t run that far. The fighting affected me, because I used to do it a lot.I used to fight at school because I was angry because I wasn’t in a good mood. The kids used to bully me because they thought it was funny. I stopped fighting because it’s bad. I think the toilet bit was funny because they didn’t have any toilet paper and he had to use a pinecone. I was surprised when they finished because they had run 100 miles.
I remember Jason most because he got into a fight. I remember that he got hurt, he got punched in the face. It was serious because it was sad. He was no good at fighting, he got hit and so he gave up. After that he went to university to learn about stuff. He signed up to a job a lawyer, this was good for him because he had to stand up on the stage and talk. This would make me nervous because being on stage and talking on the microphone because the other people would stare and it would make me anxious.
He also went drinking and met Brendon and they had a conversation and became best friends. Brendon and Jason started running and had to do a couple of miles and then had to help each other to get to the running station of 80 miles in the 100 miles race.
(Riliey dictated and Ms Swann prompted and typed!)
In the film, they worked together. I work together with Dianne in maths. She helps us. Brendan and Jason found the race really hard, I find times tables hard.
